October 30, 2019 – Anglerfish Bay Area Events List

It’s Halloween, witches!

This week’s Curator: Bart Bernhardt of Nerd Nite SF.

Yesterday’s fevered dreams of haunts and horrors turned out to not be Halloween-related, but actual fever dreams. Hence this edition is a day late. Apologies. No tricks, but I really hope you enjoy these treats this week! From sciencey horror to silent horror to silent reading parties and more.

Thanks for reading The Anglerfish! Follow us on @ & FB and tell your curious-er friends to subscribe to The Anglerfish, too.

COMING UP THIS WEEK:

After Dark: Halloween
Live performances of macabre music by the Awesome Orchestra, weird & strange tales of science with Odd Salon, and a terrifying live game show with Nerd Nite, all happening at the Exploratorium. Plus costumes, cocktails, and the wonders of the museum.
THU OCT 31, 6-10:00PM. Exploratorium, SF. $19.95

Creatures of the NightLife
SF’s other great science museum hosts a drag show & costume contest, horror films, and spooky/comedy storytelling, and of course more science, cocktails, and museum exploring.
THU OCT 31, 6-10:00PM. Cal. Academy of Sciences, SF. $25

Nasferatu @ Grace Cathedral
The classic vampire silent film, Nasferatu, will be screened in the lovely Grace Cathedral, accompanied on the cathedral pipe organ by Dorothy Papadakos.

Extra Action presents Washed Up
For a more musical night out, consider Washed Up. The legendary Extra Action Marching Band brings together a lineup of performers in a night that I’m just gonna guess can be summed up as “loud & debauched”.
THU OCT 31, 8:00PM. The Uptown, Oakland. $20
