Ok, it’s not just this week – you can actually hunt ghosts all year round, but it’s seasonally appropriate to include a mention of our city’s longest running host tour, which orients itself less around superficial scares, and more around our city’s secret history and mysterious happenings. SOMArts’ Día de Los Muertos exhibition
For 19 years now SOMArts gallery has hosted a Dia de Los Muertos exhibition, celebrating and remebering the dead through art. This year’s theme is “Honoring our Ancestors by Fighting for the Future”, and is curated by Rio Yañez and Carolina Quintanilla.

Balmy AlleyMurals Block Party
An afternoon block party celebrates the newest mural to join the ad hoc gallery on Balmy Alley “Women of the Resistance”. The party runs from 2-8 pm, and features snacks, a blessing by local Jorge Molina, cermony by Aztec dancers , music by local djs.

Whole Earth Catalog 50th Celebration Evening Event
In 1968, theWhole Earth Catalog debuted, the first edition of the counterculture journal and source for tools for a DIY, sustainable lifestyle that published editions until 1998. Live “Ship Chat” with the Research Vessel Falkor
Join the Exploratorium for a live science chat with the R/V Falkor, currently using one of the most advanced ROVs out there to explore the ocean floor off the Souther California coast. Hosted by Mary Miller of the Exploratorium, with Peter Girguis of Harvard University and Lily Simonson, a bay area artist currently doing an at-sea residency on Falkor.
