Damage to the Railroad House on Clay St from the big one. Not that big one, the one in 1868.
This week’s Curator: Kishore Hari of Big Screen Science and Inquiring Minds.
It’s festival season in the Bay Area – so welcome to the WAAAAAAAAY too much to do edition of the Anglerfish. LitCrawl is one of my can’t miss SF events, plus a shark pub crawl, a food crawl, actually just #allthecrawls. And here’s what didn’t make the cut – magic at the Tenderloin museum, NASA heads to a North Bay brewery to talk control systems, DJs meet indie films, and a Cardi B spelling bee.
Happy 150th to the earthquake we all forget – so take the time post Greak Shakeout to learn about that fantastic Hayward earthquake – the original big one. You know, if you don’t count the millions of earthquakes that happened before humans even came to be.
Thank you for reading Anglerfish! Please follow us on @ & FB and tell your curious-er friends to subscribe to The Anglerfish, too.

LitCrawl 2018
How do you describe the biggest, craziest literary pub crawl ever? Words fail me, but here goes. LitCrawl #14 launches this Saturday with 500+ authors spread out across dozens of venues in the Mission. Loads of readings, a bit of improv, and a whole lot unexpected – the events are spread across 3 phases, starting at 5 and ending around 9PM – though many stay late into the night to continues conversations inspired along the way. If you don’t end up at a location you’ve never been to before, you aren’t doing LitCrawl right. Here are some of my faves:
SAT, OCT 20, Starts at 5PM, Venues throughout the Mission, SF. Free
- Dirty Older Women – Older women share juicy, kinky and outrageous stories and poems of their exploits and explorations in the sensual realm.
- SF Chronicle: Roast Of The Little Man – Learn about iconic SF Chronicle’s The Little Man rating graphic, such as where did he come from, how long he’s been around and more. And then staff members will break out the festivus pole as they share their biggest grievances and frustrations about that Little Man.
- Odd Salon: Cemetery Stories – Our friends at Odd Salon for tales from the surprising history of cities of the dead.
- Dirty Laundry: Loads of Prose – The Washing Society is a film about the hidden labor that goes into cleaning your clothes, followed by stories of hidden labor.
- Ghost Tour: Memories From Dolores Park – Come hear stories from the new zine “Memories from Dolores Park” filled with stories of locals centered in public parks.

- Beyond Wakanda – Six black writers read their surreal, futuristic, or Wakanda-inspired work.
Opera on Tap: Fached-Up Halloween
Expect horribly FACHED-UP takes on opera, composers, characters, as well as the general state of the WORLDWELIVEIN while singers play outside of their identified voice type. This is going to be a hot operatic mess. Costumes encouraged!
