The Lost Church is hosting the artistic couple and experimental musicians Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten & Danielle dePiccioto of Space Cowboys) for two nights of musical explorations and experiments, featuring unusual instruments and acoustic soundscapes.

Patti Smith: “Wing” photo exhibition at SFAI
Poet, rocker, and living legend Patti Smith has always had a visual arts side, as you know if you’ve read her memoir Just Kids which chronicles her co-evolution with soulmate artist Robert Mapplethorpe in 70s New York City. This set of 30+ of her photos is making a brief visit via SF Art Institute’s historic Chestnut St campus. You’ll find them in the gallery named for Diego Rivera which features his 1931 fresco “The Making of a Fresco Showing the Building of a City.” The show is free, up now, and closes Saturday, Jan 19.

Women’s March San Francisco 2019 Rally and March
San Francisco on its feet marching, that’s a great way to start the year. Celebrating women. Setting an example. “This year’s theme is #TruthToPower and celebrating the #WomensWave.” Get up for that.

Palace of Trash presents: “Jagged Litter Pill”
Those demented cabaretsters at Palace of Trash are still freaking out about Alanis Morissette’s landmark albu 24 years after it came out. “We’ll be performing to the entire album, front to back.” An inspired tribute, this is not your hipster auntie’s Alanis fandom; these Morissettlers include veterans of the Thrillpeddlers and the Dark Room Theater. Palace of Trash is an outrageous, uproarious, unstoppable revue that manifests every 3rd Sunday at The Stud. “A glittering and trashy spectacle in the tradition of The Cockettes,” you will believe you are in San Francisco!

Total Lunar Eclipse Viewing Party at Chabot Space Center
Pack up your lawn chairs and toasty blankets for a lunar eclipse watching party. The moon begins the disappearing at 7:30, reaches totality at 8:41, and winds up the act just before midnight. Chabot provides an excellent viewing location in the Oakland hills with hot chocolate on hand. Weather permitting.

Isabella Rossellini brings her latest unique performance to San Francisco this week. As we post this all the shows are sold out except for Monday. So: go on Monday! “My ultimate intention is to teach people and share with them the amazement that I’ve felt throughout my life as I’ve studied animals.” You will see a small dog in animal drag.
